Pediatric eye exam at Ozark Eye in Pea Ridge

At what age is it recommended to have a first eye exam for a child?

455 Slack St, Pea Ridge, AR (479) 208-6175 Insurance options reviewed before your visit
The American Optometric Association recommends a child’s first comprehensive eye exam at 6 months of age, another at age 3, one before kindergarten, and then every year.

Those early exams matter because the visual system is still developing. Lazy eye (amblyopia), misaligned eyes and focusing problems are most treatable when caught young, and children almost never say their vision is blurry. Yearly exams through the school years keep up with eyes that can change quickly as kids grow.

At Ozark Eye, pediatric exams start at age 3 and are adapted to your child’s age, with pictures and shapes for children who don’t know their letters yet. If you have concerns about a younger child’s eyes, call (479) 208-6175 and ask.
