Diabetic eye exam and retinal screening at Ozark Eye

Can you drive after having a diabetic eye test?

455 Slack St, Pea Ridge, AR (479) 208-6175 Insurance options reviewed before your visit
Plan not to drive yourself. A diabetic eye exam includes dilation, and dilated eyes usually mean blurred near vision and light sensitivity for 2 to 4 hours afterward.

Bring someone who can drive you home, or arrange a ride, especially if you have a longer trip back to Bentonville, Rogers or Bella Vista. Bring sunglasses too. Set aside about an hour for the exam itself.

If driving afterward can’t be avoided, mention it when you book so the office can talk through your options. Retinal imaging can sometimes reduce the need for dilation, but for a diabetic eye exam a dilated look at the retina is the most thorough evaluation, which is why it is part of the visit.
